30 Days of Giveaways Day 31: Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day
I love the idea of Mrs. Meyers Clean Day cleaning products. Scrub your house with delicious smelling eco-friendly cleaning supplies? Where do I sign up? Any product that can tout itself as “earth friendly and cruelty free” is worth giving a shot.
The products that I received to try were: the countertop spray in basil scent, room freshener in lavender, the scented soy candle in lemon verbena, and the automatic dish packs in geranium.
I swooned over the lemon candle and lavender room spray. Not only are 
these two of my favorite scents (I have a pot of lavender on my porch that I pluck stalks from to dry and scent our bedroom with), but they are two items that are extremely useful in a house with a kid, two big slobbery spoiled rotten dogs, a construction worker and …well, me but I don’t really add as much to the dust and odor as the before-mentioned dearly beloved of mine. The soy candle was completely used up in less than a week and the room spray is down to it’s last spritz or two. They have lovely subtle natural scents that don’t lay heavily in the room. I loved both of these items. I’d give them a 9.5/10.
The countertop spray smelled as delightfully fresh as those and in that area I give it a 10/10. But, unfortunately, we have TOUGH counter tops in our kitchen. The folks who lived here prior to us somehow thought it was a great idea to paint the counters with regular flat wall paint which, let me tell you, is a NIGHTMARE. Everything sticks to them, they stain easily, and they are hard to get clean looking. It takes a tough cleaning formula to get them sparkling the way I like and the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day countertop spray just didn’t cut it. I did, however, find that I liked it for cleaning the bathroom sink and the tops and sides of the shower. So, for our kitchen counters? I’d give it a 5/10, but for other surfaces? 8/10.
Another unfortunate factor in our cute 50’s style home (read: very very small) is that we don’t have a dishwasher. Well, we do, and her name is Ms. Mama. Ha. Ha. So the geranium dishwasher packs were passed on to my mother-in-law who informs me she loves the scent and they did a great job getting those sparkling glasses of hers glinting to her perfectionist standards. I’m not going to rate this item as I didn’t personally try it, but mother-in-law gives it a good review – you know it’s gottta be good.

the lavander dish soap sounds great because it would smell pretty but not be full of chemicals. comerical dish soap has always grossed me out because of the residue that has to be left on dishes. however, most green dish soaps don’t smell the best.

I’d like to try the lemon verbena surface wipes. In our house, cleaning wipes are invaluable. We’re very sticky! We use them everywhere…and I imagine I’d love the lemony scent!

WHY I’d like to try the lemon verbena shower cleaner is that the tub/shower is one of the hardest places to keep clean. I want an easy way to get rid of soap scum without putting some toxic chemical in a place where my kids are on a daily basis.
