What I’m Watching
If you don’t know I do a Gossip Girl podcast every week with my friends. Don’t frown up. Yes it’s a teen drama and yes I’m 28 years old but I love that stuff. It’s a show for all ages and if you like drama then you’re going to love the show. In fact, you’ll probably love everything the CW is serving up to us this year. The target audience is 18-34 females and they are definitely giving us shows to sink our teeth into this year.
Television is such a crazy thing and it’s an investment of our time. (Probably time that would be better suited for something else more productive.) But there are some good things out there so I thought I would make a recommendation on shows that you should be watching this year and have probably survived cancellation for now.
1. Modern Family (Wednesday, 9/8c on ABC): This is the funniest show I’ve seen since 30 Rock busted out on the scene a couple of years ago. The show centers around one extended family and the individual families that make up the group. You will be laughing within the first five minutes of this show. It’s only 30 minutes which is a bummer, but it’s definitely worth watching.
2. Glee (Wednesday 9/8c, on Fox): I was in the band in high school so I have a natural love of music. But I think everyone will like this show because it’s got the teen aspect and adult aspect too. The songs are integrated into the show to perfection and it’s a mix of today’s hits and some oldies. The writing is clever, the singing is fantastic…the only problem is the lip syncing comes off a little too weird sometimes. But think High School Musical for adults. You’re going to love it.
3. The Vampire Diaries (Thursday, 8/7c on The CW): The world seems to be obsessed with vampires lately and this is just the latest installment. The Vampire Diaries is adapted from the books written by L. M. Smith. People constantly compare it to the Twilight saga but these books were written in 2000, but never caught on like Twilight. I’m currently reading the books and obsessing over this show because the book adaptation to television is probably the best I’ve seen in a long time. There’s love, lust and vampire bites and I think you would love it. And if you’re in to podcast listen to Bite On This: A Vampire Diaries podcast!
4. Flash Forward (Thursday, 10/9c on ABC): They say this show isn’t supposed to replace Lost when it ends this season, but it so totally is. This is a show that sucks you in and doesn’t spit you back out. It’s equally addicting as Lost and the mystery just keeps on coming. Plus, the writers say the show is intended to go on for three to four seasons and the ratings are good. There are going to be magical things that come out of this hate. Everyone in the world loses consciousness for 2 minutes and 17 seconds simultaneously and in that time everyone sees their future. It’s really interesting. It’s based on the book by Robert J. Sawyer!
5. Melrose Place (Tuesday, 9/8c on The CW): Last year The CW remade 90210 and this year it’s Melrose Place. I didn’t watch much of the original Melrose Place, but I do know it was filled with drama and twists at every corner. The remake is starting fresh with great pretty faces and it’s already off to great start. If you want something juicy, fun and scandalous this is the show for you!
These are just suggestions on new shows to watch. I hope you do and if you like them leave a comment so I know I’ve done well.
