Alissa, the owner & creative brains behind Snarky Cards, is.my.hero. Or maybe my sister in a past life, if I believed in that sort of thing. Regardless, she graciously allowed us to host a contest so that one of our lucky snarky readers could win a set of 12 Snarky Cards! Trust me, when you check out her site, you will vie to win these puppies! Before we begin, though, here’s what Alissa had to say about her art:
I got started by combining all of the things that I love: drinking in bars, giving strangers advice, painting, offending people and watching t.v.
People in bars give me a lot of good ideas. Once they start reading my cards, they tell me what they want to see, and they also tell me what’s wrong with the cards I’ve already got. I don’t always listen to the drunks, but sometimes they have pretty good ideas, and I write them all down, just in case. Also: I’ve always been a little slutty. You’d be surprised how much shit you learn about people when you put out a lot.
I work in acrylic because I’m part of the mtv generation, and acrylic gives you the most instant gratification out of all the paint. Ditto for the typewriter.
Of course I do custom items! Some of my best ideas come from my custom items!
Before I get to the contest details, I’d like to share a few of Alissa’s Snarky Cards and tell you who I would send them to.
I’d send the “Friend, We’re Going to Hell” card to my dear Ms. KnowItAll for obvious reasons.
And this gem? If I cared, I’d send it to an ex of mine.

‘I Need Therapy’ is always a good card to have in your back pocket when your husband has to stop and cover your mouth to tell you your not just having an orgasm but screaming like a murder victim, and then realize your moment of bliss was caused by him deciding to switch his man tool for… but hey lets not go there!
My favourite card would have to be the ‘college degrees’ card! It made me laugh so hard because right now I’m trying to convince my husband it’s a good idea to buy a plot of acerage and try to build our own house out of … well.. dirt!

Happy Birthday, Get Laid is pretty funny because one time I dated a man who was always telling me how to improve myself (get my hair colored, my teeth straightened and whitened, do more crunches to get flatter abs, etc.). Yet, EVERY year on his birthday, I get a text from him asking if I forgot it was his birthday because he didn’t receive any well wishes from me. So, I think the happy birthday!
