My 2 Cents: Second Chances

A few weeks ago on LJ’s Writer’s Block, the question was asked, “Do you think people deserve second chances?”

Here’s my honest answer: Technically, yes, but i’ve always found this saying true: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

How would you answer this question?

I have always been one to forget why I should not give a person a second chance and wind up doing it anyway. In the end, I am reminded why the person didn’t deserve another chance as well as feeling worse about myself than before.

I agree that we often treat others how to treat us..when I’ve been hurt I ask myself if there’s a pattern with that particular person, and I often find that there is. It’s healthier for me to just focus my energy on other areas of my life and not dwell on things because I realize it’s the other person’s issues, not mine.
