Women Need Tech Too

Written by: Ms. Modern 19 June 2009 175 views 2 Comments

macbookWomen tend not to be so tech savvy, but this modern lady can’t live with out the tech advancements. I will admit I’m a sucker for computers, video games and flat panel televisions, but there is so many more useful things out there for the tech goddess. As a little introduction to Ms. Together, I thought I would provide you with my list of things that keep me together in daily life.

  1. iPhone:  Apple has made the iPhone more affordable in the past year by lowering the price; the only problem is the monthly bill is a little steep.  But it’s an important part of my life that keeps me in the know all the time.  With a Mobile Me account ($99) or a Google Sync account (free from Google) you can sync your calendar and contacts on your computer and iPhone which means you never are left without a gap in information.  This is what I love most about my phone.  I can stay on task and punctutal with my little device.  Also, I am able to run my business on the go with the different applications available (some free and some paid).  If there is something you need to do there is probably an app for it.  There are some other great features: full html email, full internet browsing and, of course, it’s a phone!
  2. iPod: Why do I need an iPod if I have an iPhone?  My phone is for talking and listening to music on my iPhone might run down the battery on my lifeline, so I do have a seperate iPod.  Listening to music is a great way to relieve stress and this is the quickest way to have access to all your favorite songs in one place.  CDs are great, but they are bulky and can get heavy to carry around.  With your iPod it’s all there and you can use it as a stand alone device, dock it with some iPod speakers, and/or plug it in your car.
  3. The Kindle:  I read a lot of books on the go and a woman about town may not always have time to go to the bookstore.  Or when she does, she might not have time to go until midnight.  The Kindle handles this problem by letting you buy books in a flash without having to go to the bookstore.  Most books retail for $9.99 USD and there are thousands of books available at the touch of a button.  The Kindle is a wireless device that is thinner than a book, it might even be thinner than a pencil, that doesn’t require a monthly plan.  Like I mentioned earlier, you can buy books but you can also read daily newspapers.  This is essential for a woman on the go!
  4. Digital camera:  Taking pictures is a important to me and I don’t like being caught without a camera.  Yes, I know any old cell phone has a camera phone these days, but the quality isn’t that great so having a small point-and-shoot camera is a must to capture all those moments you never thought would happen.  Who knows you might want to take a picture of a beautiful sunset or a candid picture of your group of friends on a Friday night.  Whatever the occassion, having one of these handy will make a big difference.  Plus there are practical uses, like being able to take pictures of damage if you are involved in a car wreck. You can find a rather cheap camera and you can never go wrong with a Canon or Nikon!
  5. Tivo:  It’s a great invention because it allow you to watch shows that you would miss while you’re busy with life.  Every single girl needs some time to herself and wouldn’t it be great to spend that time watching some of your favorite shows?  Well Tivo makes it possible.  With a few clicks you can record a full season of your favorite show and watch it later.

These are just a few tech things I use everyday and keep my life straight while I’m on the go.  Over time I will suggest more tech things to you and they all won’t quite be this expensive.  There are many tech things that won’t break your budget that you will love.
