30 Days of Giveaways – Day 17: jerseymaids Print Review and Giveaway!

Though Polaroid pictures are no longer with us, we all remember the distinctive framing of the first instant photographs, favored only by hipsters in the last few years. Now Lauren Beacham has captured the charm of these photographs in her collection of jewelry and artwork for sale at her Etsy shop jerseymaids.

The piece above is a delicate Polaroid transfer pendant from a strong (if slightly short) necklace that I reviewed. The vibrant colors and eye-catching framing got a ton of compliments when I wore it out on the town. The white is unmuddied and the colors, while soft-focus are clearly figurative and distinguishable as an iris. This is my new favorite piece of jewelry!

I was so impressed with this piece that I snagged a hell of a deal on another pendant. jerseymaids sells slightly non-standard Polaroid pendants (without chains) for only $5, and I snagged the pendant above to the left (sorry for the poor quality pic). The difference is noticeable, but not significant – I actually think that the woozy, off-centered feel accentuated the bottles in the “picture”.

Lauren Beacham also runs Drawers of the Manor, a vintage clothing shop. I found a great green dress on there for under $25 with shipping, and also recommend it for medium sized (8-14) ladies.

Aside from gorgeous accessories, jerseymaids also offers fine art. Lauren Beacham describes the piece above: “This is an original one of a kind botanical Polaroid transfer using 669 Polaroid film, a 35mm slide, daylab, watercolor paper, and lots of love. It measures approximately 3″ x 4″ and is hand signed by the artist. Though the image may be replicated, no two transfers are the same.”
